Golnar Ahmadian: From Architecture to Fashion Fame

Iranian-Canadian designer Golnar Ahmadian is redefining contemporary fashion through her Toronto-based lifestyle brand Golshaah. With two CAFA nominations and a coveted LVMH Prize semifinalist position, selected from over 2,400 designers worldwide, Ahmadian represents a new generation of talent bringing authentic cultural narratives to global fashion.

What sets Ahmadian apart is her architectural foundation. Before pivoting to fashion, she trained as an architect, and this discipline shapes every garment she creates. Her designs feature precise tailoring, layered constructions, and voluminous shapes that resemble wearable sculptures, transforming clothing into three-dimensional art forms that challenge conventional silhouettes.

Her LVMH Prize semifinalist recognition shows how craftsmanship and material research lie at the heart of the semifinalists' work, and Ahmadian embodies exactly this philosophy. She creates a timeless wardrobe inspired by Persian heritage, authentically reflecting how she creatively navigated layering and modest dressing while living in Iran. This perspective brings a rarely-seen cultural voice to contemporary design.

Moving from Iran to Canada nearly six years ago, Ahmadian studied fashion at George Brown College while building her entrepreneurial vision. She co-founded Lo'bat, an accessories brand creating jewelry from recycled materials, demonstrating early commitment to sustainability—a value increasingly vital to fashion's future. This success gave her confidence to launch Golshaah in 2019.

Commercial success proves her vision works. Golshaah pieces now appear in prestigious international stockists like Dover Street Market in London and The Corner in Berlin. Her neutral color palette and versatile constructions allow wearers to style garments multiple ways, making avant-garde design accessible and wearable for everyday life.

Ahmadian's seasonless approach rejects fast fashion's frenetic pace. She offers pieces that transcend trends, expanding beyond clothing into Persian-inspired furniture and accessories, a true lifestyle brand honoring both her architectural training and cultural roots.

As she prepares to present at Paris Fashion Week in March 2026, one truth emerges clearly: Golnar Ahmadian represents fashion's future thoughtful, heritage-driven, architecturally innovative, and unapologetically unique. Her work proves that true elegance always begins with a story.
